TRAINING TOWARDS TEC DIVING
Technical diving means going beyond recreational scuba diving limits : diving deeper and longer. But Tec divers will tell you that it really is about the challenge of exploring places that no one else has ever seen, as a team. Tec diving is not for everyone, but it does attract experienced divers who are willing to accept the added risks, training, investment and commitment this new adventure demands. For us at Planet Scuba Mexico, Tec Diving is more than a challenge: it’s a passion.
Technical diving requires solid skills and in-depth knowledge in order to safely execute more complex dives: more equipment, decompression obligation, right choice of gases and solid procedures to deal with every situation. Proper training is key!
Training structure
a step-by-step approach
We offer courses from several agencies, including TDI, IANTD and PADI – but most courses can be seen as belonging to one of the 3 following categories:
- Prep courses: building foundational skill platform in terms of buoyancy, trim, propulsion, as well as getting familiar with 2 tanks configurations (twinset or sidemount) and procedures (S-Drill, V-Drill)
- Decompression: moving beyond the minimum decompression limit, planning & executing decompression dives safely through solid theoretical knowledge and skills, including multiple gases and switching procedures
- Trimix: planning and executing more complex dives requiring greater depths or more complex missions by using helium to minimize narcosis and work of breath
